Hi all,

Blogging is a new adventure for me. I think that I am going to enjoy it though, because I do love writing. I aim to use this blog to let you know :-

any new insights that I have acquired

any new ideas for reducing levels of stress, anxiety or depression

anything that’s new in my world of Counselling in Cambridgeshire.

I believe that counselling can be very helpful for people to look at their lives in a different way. We often talk about wanting to ‘change our lives’. Well – counselling is a good way of doing this. Clients come to counselling with their own unique set of fears, anxieties, hopes and dreams. Talking to a counsellor can help people to understand what is going on in their lives. They can then look a their lives from a new perspective. This enables people to start to change the way that they interact with others. I believe that our relationships are the key to a contented life. If relationships are not going well, this can be quite painful for us. Counselling can help us to better understand our relationships and change them for the better. We cannot change other people; but by knowing ourselves better, we can change the way that we interact with others. This can help to change our relationships for the better.

Stress, anxiety and depression are common issues for people in our modern world. Diet, exercise and sleep play a big part in helping us to stay healthy. The endorphins which are released when we exercise are very helpful in raising our spirits. Also, activities which allow us to focus on something can help us to take our minds away from our worries. In my experience, yoga and meditation are beneficial both physically (for relaxing the body) and emotionally (for calming our minds). This calm, relaxed state helps to refresh us, so that we are ready to take on our next challenge in life. There are other activities which also seem to have a meditative effect e.g. knitting, playing a musical instrument, drawing + painting. Anything which requires our full attention, which we enjoy.

My counselling skills are currently spread across a wide spectrum. This includes individual counselling (for adults + young people), couples counselling, family therapy; group counselling (for OCD sufferers in Cambridgeshire); supervision of counsellors and training of counsellors. Consequently my diary is pretty busy. However, if you feel that I may be able to help you, please do get in touch.
